Ngoc Nguyen
As a health educator/advocate for the fight against obesity and diabetes epidemics, Ngoc believes in empowering communities to break cycles by helping individuals find their voice. Ngoc joins CCS as a Program Coordinator because of the vast opportunities to collaborate with others to yield positive change. She leads the Health Behaviors Initiative statewide with a focus on incorporating nutrition education, physical activity, and food security in afterschool programs. Prior to joining CCS, Ngoc worked at the California State University (CSU), Sacramento Student Health and Counseling Services Center and the Sacramento County Health and Human Services agency in the Health Education Unit. Ngoc has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Health Science: Community Health Education from CSU, Sacramento. During her spare time, she enjoys board games, reading, trying new recipes, hiking and spending quality time with her family and dog, Apollo.

 
Andi Fletcher
Andi, a leader in the afterschool field since 1995, serves as CCS’ chief afterschool consultant for the Healthy Behaviors Initiative (HBI).  In that capacity, she has played a key leadership role in the design and implementation of HBI. She has been responsible for the Healthy Behaviors Learning Community, providing technical assistance and coaching for the Healthy Behaviors Learning Center programs, conducting trainings and writing the key documents for this initiative, including Developing Exemplary Practices in Nutrition, Physical Activity and Food Security in Afterschool Programs (2008), Changing Lives, Saving Lives! A Step-by-Step Guide to Developing Exemplary Practices in Healthy Eating, Physical Activity and Food Security in Afterschool Programs (2010) and a white paper, Combating the Childhood Obesity Crisis: Taking Advantage of an Unprecedented Opportunity.


 
Karen Cantrell
Karen has more than 25 years of professional experience in designing, directing and supporting district-led, community-based and faith-based afterschool programs and is a recognized leader in the field. As a consultant for the Los Angeles County Office of Education, the Center for Collaborative Solutions and several school districts, she has closely worked with leadership teams, staff members and district administrators at all levels and has made a difference in the lives of thousands of children and their families and communities. She has 10 years of experience conducting formative evaluations that have had a positive impact on program quality. Karen graduated from National University with a Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science, earned a Master’s Degree in Education from Concordia University and holds a certificate in Nonprofit Management from Duke University. She is a welcome addition to our HBI coaching team!

Janet Walden
Janet, CCS President and CEO, provides overall project direction and oversight for HBI, and is involved in all aspects of planning of the project.  






 

Kim Settle
Program Services Administrator
Kim joined the CCS staff early in 2013 and brings with her a wide range of organizational, administrative and technical skills, all of which she puts to good use in her role as Program Services Administrator.
