After decades of increasing, the national childhood obesity rate has leveled off and the rise in obesity among adults is beginning to slow. This is progress, but rates are alarmingly higher than they were a generation ago as demonstrated by this report, which looks at data over the past 25 years.

Nutrition Education Kit Featuring MyPlate is a garden-themed nutrition education kit for child care center staff that introduces children to: three fruits - peaches, strawberries, and cantaloupe, and three vegetables - spinach, sweet potatoes, and crookneck squash. Nutrition Education Resource Guide

This guide was developed by the California Department of Education (CDE) as a valuable resource to assist local afterschool programs in their efforts to implement well-planned, high-quality instructional programs in nutrition education.

The California Obesity Prevention Program (COPP)

The California Obesity Prevention Program addresses environmental and policy change strategies related to six obesity prevention target areas including:

Increasing fruit and vegetable consumption
Decreasing consumption of energy-dense foods
Increasing physical activity
Decreasing television viewing (screen time)
Increasing breastfeeding initiation, duration, and exclusivity
Decreasing consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages

Robert Wood Johnson Foundation - Childhood Obesity Program

The goal of the RWJF is to reverse the childhood obesity epidemic by 2015 by improving access to affordable healthy foods and increasing opportunities for physical activity in schools and communities across the nation.
